Adult Footie Pajamas Biography

Footie pajamas, or onsie pajamas, are not just children's pajamas. When purchasing adult footie pajamas, it is important to choose garments that are the correct size. You should also purchase adult pajamas that are comfortable, attractive, and easy to care for. Non-skid feet are an important safety consideration, and a drop-seat may also be very convenient.

One of the first things that you should consider when choosing adult footie pajamas is your size. An adult's pajamas can come in a variety of sizes, and pajamas that are too small or large will often be uncomfortable. If possible, you should try on a few pairs of pajamas before you purchase them to ensure they fit properly.

These types of pajamas are also made from several types of materials. Consider the weather conditions and climate in your region before you buy new pajamas. Fleece and flannel pajamas will usually keep you quite warm in cold weather. On the other hand, lightweight cotton pajamas will usually keep you cool in warm weather.

Like children's footie pajamas, adult footie pajamas come in a variety of colors and designs. You can often find these types of adult pajamas in a plethora of colors, including black and hot pink. A variety of designs are also available as well. Plaid footie pajamas are suitable for just about anyone. Pajamas with hearts or flowers, on the other hand, are better suited for girls and women, while pajamas with skulls or flames may suit boys and men better.
Before buying footie pajamas for an adult, look at the care instructions. Many of these pajamas can simply be tossed into the washer and dryer. Some of them, however, may require time-consuming laundering. Keep in mind that some materials, like cotton, might shrink, if they are not washed and dried properly.

The attached feet on adult footie pajamas can be quite slippery on certain types of flooring, especially hardwood flooring. Non-skid soles are usually recommended. These can help prevent slipping and falling, which may cause nasty injuries.

You should also keep in mind that many adult footie pajamas can be a bit difficult to get off when you need to use the bathroom. Drop-seat footie pajamas, however, can solve this problem. These have a flap that covers the wearer's buttocks, and the flap can be lowered when he needs to use the toilet. Flaps are usually held in place with Velcro® or snaps.
A pajama-clad man - in an effort to change the channel - stretches every which way in a desperate dig for a television remote buried in cavernous couch cushions.

During the fracas, his shirt becomes untucked, exposing a sliver of torso to an unpleasant gust of cold air.

He is inconvenienced, his man time interrupted by the qualms of unforgiving fabric.

If only his shirt and pants were sewn together.

Add a pair of rubber-gripped slipper socks, and you get footie pajamas - a childhood staple that recently has reappeared in the adult sections of Target, Walmart and even Macy's.
From celebrities to young professionals to stay-at-home moms, lovers of loungewear share a common appreciation for the infantile cocoon of polyester that involves completely disrobing just to use the toilet.

"I feel like a little kid," said Deb White, 41, of Dover Township. "You can grow old, but you don't have to grow up."

White, who works as a manicurist, joined the footie fad two years ago.

It was the first Valentine's Day she and her husband would celebrate as a married couple.

He was out of town on business. White was crushed - until a hot-pink surprise arrived by mail that day. Spoiler: It wasn't lingerie.

The bubble gum-colored fluorescent bundle of zip-up comfort - topped with a drawstring hood - came with a teddy bear clad in a matching "hoodie footie."
"I could flag traffic with this thing," White said. "It's warm, and it's got the no-slip grips on the bottom."

Though more difficult to find, they make them for men, too.

Dallas Diehl, a 17-year-old senior at Central York High School, prides himself on owning "footies galore."

He purchased his first pair three years ago. Today, he owns two with camouflage prints and another that's just blue.

The blue one features the rare-but-functional "trap door," a flap of fabric on the rear that can be unbuttoned when nature calls.

"I can do my business and stay warm," he said, laughing. "They're comfy. People like comfort. People like being lazy."

Footies have long been a staple in pop culture.

In the 1963 children's book, "Where the Wild Things Are," lead character Max wears a version of the cozy one-piece.

Footies were everyday attire for the multi-colored foursome of television's "Teletubbies."

Most recently, rap artist Macklemore dons Batman footie pajamas in his music video for "Thrift Shop," which has more than 127 million views on YouTube.

While celebrities help propel the footie's mainstream appeal, clever marketing trends are likely behind its popularity among adults, said Laura West Steck, assistant professor of sociology at York College.

Generation Y'ers are now having kids of their own. And for them, it's about infantilization - appealing to the child in a parent. The same thing is happening with toys like My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake and Transformers, which are regaining momentum, she said.

Hasbro re-released the Furby last year. The owl-like robot originally debuted in 1998.

"The parent wants to play with the toys they enjoyed playing with as a child," she added.

The same, she said, might apply to sleepwear.

Michelle Morningstar, 32, of Hellam Township, and her 4-year-old daughter, Juliet, like to cuddle up on the couch in their footie pajamas.

Morningstar, a full-time substitute teacher, bought the bright blue outfit at Target when she was four months pregnant. They have sock monkey faces on the feet.

"Whenever I wear them, my husband knows not to touch me," she said. "They mean 'I need to be left alone,' 'Don't come near me.'"

She isn't afraid to wear them in public, either.

"I had to take my daughter to a doctor's appointment as an emergency," she said. "I threw boots over top of them, put a shirt on, and went to the doctor with them on."

For others, footie pajamas return to glory at theme parties.

On New Year's Eve, Amanda Knudson, 22, of Red Lion, attended a footie pajama celebration with 15 of her friends. She wore footed pajamas with pink penguins and hearts purchased for $5 on clearance at Rue 21.

They reminded her of the Barbie footed pajamas she wore as a child.

They also came in handy this winter.

"We keep our heat turned down to 65. It's chilly in my house," she said. "They're comfy. If I lose my slippers, I don't have to worry."
